Trek to Colca canyon

This trek is recommended for those who wish to spend more time exploring the villages located in the Colca Canyon. The trek is at a moderate pace: the first day’s hike is 3 hours, the second day’s is 4 hours, and the last day’s is 2 hours. The route includes descents, flat terrain, and ascents.
ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arequipa – Cruz del Cóndor – Cabanaconde – Chuccho
3:00 am Pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the town of Chivay (3-hour drive)
6:30 am Breakfast, then we continue our journey (2 hours) to visit Cruz del Cóndor, where we will appreciate the flight of the condors over the Colca Canyon (a strategic viewpoint to observe the canyon in all its splendor).
Then we continued our journey (30 min) to the town of Cabanaconde.
At 10:30 am we arrived at the San Miguel viewpoint, where we began our descent into the canyon (3 hours).
At 1:00 pm we reached the first suspension bridge, where we rested before continuing our hike (10 min) to the community of San Juan de Chuccho. There, the guide arranged meals and accommodations in the bungalow-style houses of the local residents.
Day 2: Chuccho – Cosñirhua – Sangalle
7:00 am Breakfast to begin the hike to the village of Cosñirhua and Malata (40 min. uphill hike). Along the way, we’ll observe some pre-Incan archaeological remains and a local museum. We’ll also have the opportunity to appreciate the traditional honey production methods. Then we’ll begin the descent into the depths of the canyon to reach the «Oasis.»
Around midday, we’ll arrive at Sangalle Oasis, a tropical oasis adorned with palm trees at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. Here, you can relax by swimming in the heated pool. Lunch will be served, followed by accommodation in a bungalow. The afternoon is free for personal activities.
Day 3: Sangalle – Cabanaconde – Chivay – Arequipa
Early 5:00 am Start of the hike up to the town of Cabanaconde (approx. 3 hours).
8:30 am Arrival and breakfast in Cabanaconde. Then we board our transport to Chivay with stops at the traditional villages of Maca, Achoma, and Yanque and natural viewpoints to appreciate the pre-Inca terraces of the valley, among other sights.
10:30 am Visit to the hot springs (1 hour bath)
Transport to the restaurant and time for lunch
1:20 pm return to Arequipa, passing through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, with sightings of native camelids.
5:00 pm (approx.) Arrival in Arequipa

Recommendations:
