The Colca Canyon is the habitat of animals such as the Andean Condor among other species of birds, four types of camelids: vicuña, guanaco, llama and alpaca. In addition, there are more than 300 species of plants, of which 30 are cacti, not to mention the primitive green yareta. One of the most invaluable spectacles of a visit to the canyon is the flight of the Condors next to the cliff. In addition, we find typical towns such as Achoma, Yanque with its monumental baroque style temple.
ITINERARY
Day 01: Trip from Arequipa to Chivay.
8:00 am. pick up from your Hotel in Arequipa and Tourist transport to Chivay located in the northeast of the city of Arequipa, on the way we have a chance to see the landscapes and reach to the Reserve of Pampa Cañahuas where you can take photo of the group of Vicuñas and Alpacas. Then we will continue ascending to Patahuasi and Patapampa – Mirador de los Volcanes, located at 4900 meters above sea level. Here we have a chance to see the landscape of this natural viewpoint. Then we continue our trip to the town of Chivay where you will settle in the selected hotel within the Chivay area.
Free time in the afternoon and opportunity to visit the thermal baths, a place surrounded by mountains and sulphurous thermal waters that flow from the interior of the mountain. (bring swimming clothes and towels)
Optional: At night we have the opportunity to participate in a dinner accompanied by a Folkloric show.
Day 02: Tour Colca Valley and Cruz del Cóndor – Return to Arequipa.
At 6:30 am, pick up from Hotel in chivay and trip to natural viewpoint known as La Cruz del Cóndor. During the trip we will appreciate spectacular views of the Colca valley, the hanging tombs of the pre-inca period, agricultural terraces over a thousand years old. Then we will arrive at the famous Cruz del Cóndor, where we will have free time to admire the natural beauty of the Colca Valley and see the flight of the Condors. Later we will start our return trip to Arequipa with stops along the way in towns such as: Pinchollo (Mirador de Wayrapunko), Mirador de Antahuilque, town of Maca and Yanque.
12:15 pm. time for lunch in a local restaurant.
1:00pm return trip to the city of Arequipa. Arriving at 5:30 p.m.
